The Dovedale “Hayashi” Project was initiated to provide additional residential accommodation for students, increasing the available housing stock.
The project was delivered under a design and build procurement model, with tender submissions required not only to meet the project’s design brief but also to demonstrate a strong commitment to low life-cycle costs.
Tenderers underwent an initial review process to confirm that proposed designs aligned with the aesthetic character and context of the surrounding environment. Final tender submissions were assessed and scored against a range of criteria, including total cost, cost per bed, life-cycle costs, and technical merit.
Following completion of the evaluation process, Naylor Love was appointed as the preferred contractor. Their proposal incorporated prefabricated bathroom pods and wall panels, enabling faster installation and improved construction efficiency.
Cuesko’s role included the review of costs from tender through to contract award, incorporating detailed life-cycle cost assessments. During the post-contract phase, Cuesko provided full quantity surveying and cost management services, including:
- – Contract administration.
- – Payment recommendations.
- – Valuation of variations through to final account.
