Newmarket Crossing / Cowie Street Bridge

The Newmarket Crossing project consists of the removal of the crossing at Sarawia Street and construction of a new road between Cowie Street and Newmarket Park, Laxon Terrace and Youngs Lane running parallel to the existing Newmarket Branch Line and enables access to Newmarket and Parnell and beyond.

The project included a new road bridge (spanning approximately 22 m) over the electrified rail line.

Cuesko provided pre-contract quantity surveying and estimating services, preparation of the Schedule of Quantities for tender purposes and provided commercial advice during the procurement and tender negotiation phases.

Funding was secured for the project based on Cuesko’s design phase estimates. Two tenders were received for the project, with one being 9% less than Cuesko’s estimate and the other 5% higher. The project was awarded to the CLL as the Main-contractor.
